Those were my thoughts when I did a little research and discovered the countless recent photographs that 24 year old Steven Sarkis, Democrat candidate for Justice of the Peace, smugly posted online boasting about the raunchy, raucous, frat party lifestyle that he leads. In fact, one of the pictures shows Sarkis striking a dramatic public pose while grinding his genitalia against a limp fire hose between his legs. I guess that means if elected, he will bring a new meaning to the term “all rise”. Seriously, how sick, and he does this sort of thing in public!
So after seeing this I dug further so it should be no surprise that Sarkis would proudly display his alcohol collection and lewd and drunken behavior online, since according to the Tucson police and court records, he and booze are tight, they go way back. That’s why the Tucson police charged him with an alcohol related crime just a few years ago. But instead of being a man and taking responsibility for his actions Sarkis was a court no show and skipped town, so another charge of failing to appear was added to his wrap sheet. An arrest warrant was issued and the law finally caught up with Sarkis, who is now a convicted criminal. To make matters worse, in 2004 he was cited for DUI. The only candidate in the Arcadia-Biltmore JP race,with a criminal record is Steven Sarkis. Now comes word that Sarkis is making accusations and libeling his opponent Mr. Booth a husband and father of three children and long-time Phoenix resident. I guess he is too drunk to understand that when a judge dismissed and set aside a misdemeanor from a decade ago, Mr. Booth's record was cleared and all guilt removed, these are things that a 24 year old who wants to play Judge should already know.
The saga, like Porky’s Revenge, continues for 24-year-old Steven Sarkis who, according to public records, moved faster than a keg run or pantie raid from a Tempe home into a Phoenix condo just to run for office. However, some folks have insisted that he never moved at all. Where I come from that’s called carpet bagging. Of course with a 300% pay raise in mind he would stake his claim on the Arcadia-Biltmore district and supposedly move just weeks before running for office. Even more shocking is his proclamation in an Arizona Republic news story: "I'm vested in the community" and "I consider myself more than qualified,". Can you believe this 24 year olds arrogance! Yes at his age I thought I knew everything and was invincible too. Well I guess he would consider himself more than qualified as it appears that he even gave himself the title “Legal" clerk, a position that doesn't even exist at the Justice Court. Yes he spent a 2 year stint in what amounts to a administrative assistant position. How much on the job and real life experience can a 24 year old have? And to think that he wants to judge others. And now I have discovered that he is employing politics oldest tradition, the good old boy network of endorsements and nepotism. Yes, like a movie set he has propped up his uncle Rick Romley a former county attorney, his employer, and close friends to endorse and write sweet quotes about him.
You would expect a judicial candidate to have moral clarity right? Well then this movie script straight out of public records should come as no surprise that 24 year old Steven Sarkis spent his beer money for professionally printed postcards that declared that he was already a Justice of the Peace. I’m not kidding he lied and defrauded voters! Is fraud a misdemeanor or felony, I forgot? That is why he is currently under investigation by the Arizona Supreme Court's Commission on Judicial Conduct for fraud and misrepresentation. To make matters worse he also decided to violate Arizona Campaign Finance Laws which led him to be summarily fined by Maricopa County. Sarkis continues racking them up. He probably feels that his criminal past and present qualifies him to be Justice of the Peace, allowing him to connect with the criminals he would be presiding over. If elected Steven Sarkis will finally have the means to expand his frat boy lifestyle... God help us!

This guy is crazy! As an Obama supporter, isn't this the type of guy we're trying to get rid of? Remember, "W" had a drinking problem and look at the mess we're in. And he wants my vote to be a judge? It would be like Sheriff Andy Taylor's job being done by the town drunk Otis. Don't think so Sarkis!
I am so very disappointed in Mr. Sarkis. He wants voters to believe that his criminal record is only due to alcohol possession by a minor. That would be fine and dandy had he actually shown up to court to face the music like a man, not a boy. Instead, an arrest warrant had to be issued to bring him in. If he can't show up for his own court date, how will he be able to show up day after day for court as a judge?
Last fall my son was walking home from a high school football game and was runover by a drunk driver. The driver fled the scene. When the police finally tracked down the driver it was discovered that he was 19 and on his was to a "drinking" party, but had been drinking before he left. His blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. My son died that night. Because of this, I am an active member of MADD. I am so very concerned about Steve Sarkis, his drinking, and lying. Is this the type of person we want to represent us as a politician, but more importantly a judge? I know I won't be voting for Steve Sarkis.
Can you believe that Steve Sarkis moved to our justice precinct only to run for this office? That's a little absurd. I can understand wanting a pay increase, but shouldn't he go about it in the tradtional way? Not by lying to voters and misrepresenting the facts. I received one of his post cards where he claimed to already be a justice of the peace. Come on! Court clerk does not equal JP. That's like saying the US President's executive secretary has gained valuable experience working along side the leader of the free world, so that makes him/her qualified to be president. I wonder why he is so interested in such a large pay increase, without the hard work to go along withit?
